Norman Ernest Borlaug (March 25, 1914 – September 12, 2009)
Our media has chosen to not really cover the passing of Norman Borlaug. I'm pretty angry that its been two days since he died that I find out about this from a news site that wasn't a major one.

This is especially sad considering he was the hands down our Worlds Greatest Hero and Human Being that the World has EVER had!
Borlaug has saved an estimated over 1 (Mother Fucking) Billion peoples lives in the course of his life and will save billions more in the future from his work.
1, 0 0 0, 0 0 0, 0 0 0, 0 0 0 lives!

The Greatest Ever? Norman (Mother Fucking) Borlaug.
None of these people are anywhere near the same league as Norman Borlaug.
No one is!
Now this isn't a popular stance to take. Some people will say no one is greater then Jesus, Buddha, & Mohammad. Others will say he has done more to damage our food supply and environment then anyone else.
First: No proof Jesus, Buddha, & Mohammad ever existed. End of discussion, nothing to prove from them, hence irrelevant. Moving on.
Environment or food quality? No evidence. None. Organic food has no more or less nutrient's then non-organic. No evidence to pesticides or non-natural material has effected public consumer health.
Proof? Aside from studies (can provide scientific if wanted) ask yourself, rationally. Since the 1940's when we started using pesticides on crops, how many cases of cancer or illness's from produce that had been exposed to pesticides that consumers have purchased have led to them developing or having had health problems that are directly linked to food?
Answer? Zero. None yet. maybe in another 70 years we can find proof. By the way, Average lifespan of an American? 77-80 years old. The real proof would be there by now if it where true.
Have farmers gotten sick or developed cancer as a result of pesticide use over the last 70 years? Yes, many in fact.
How many now are in this country? Some but very few.
Used to be? Lots.
The world? Still many.
As many as it used to be? Fuuuuuuuucccccckkkkkk No!
Is this a work in progress that's making and made colossal leaps and bounds and getting far better? Absolutely!
But that's the farmers, not the consumer. The consumer is doing just fine.
Another argument is that its destroying Bio Diversity in plants which is making them more susceptible to parasites. Not true, acutely its preserving Bio Diversity by protecting it from parasites.
But should we eat only Organic food? Well it costs 30% more to produce and and takes more land (40% more) to grow. To feed the world means destroy more existing untouched land and environment to make more space for farming.
Also if we ate only Organic food, then we would only allow 1/3 of the worlds population to eat and about 1/3 or the 1/3 will have easy access to the food. We would have world wide famine.
Sounds good if we want to ultimatly go the Soylent Green route.
Famine is the one sure fire way historicly that leads civilizations to death, war, and chaos. Then after that? Delicious cannibalism.

This really does put us just a couple of steps away from Soylent Green, andit would really lead us there.
Except we would have one problem. Since we would be in complete species crisis mode, I have trouble thinking we would have the industry to ranch, produce, prepare, FEED, slaughter, package, and ship People for consumption by other people.
Sound Silly? Yep. But when you think about it.
Going all organic on crops equals Homo Sapian Extinction. as well as a slew of other plant and animal life.
By the way. There is no such thing as Organic store bought food. Not while it uses fertilizer. No such thing as Organic Fertilizer. Without fertilizer, no agricultural industry, anywhere!
So grow it yourself. I'm sure we all have the space to provide our own personal crop.
Oh SHIT, we can't because their are 7 billion of us. Maybe if we built a time machine we could kill Norman Borlaug as a child and a billion people could just go away. that will free up some space.
So I guess the organic movement is pro Nutritional Holocaust. Nope, its pro Human extinction.
The argument feels like its more of a massive regret for not doing things diffrently, however it is still a case of the past-is-the-past.
No time machine yet, right?
This is an issue of looking at where we are at as opposed to being mad at current Over population and government problems.
This is about moving forward using science, research, logic, and critical thinking to see that everyone on the planet has acesess to the wonderful gift from Borlaug.
With all the talk about Healthcare, Taxes, Foriegn war, and reform I feel the one thing as country we take for way too much for grantit is food. We always have it, and plenty of it. Ask the Pilgrims about food. They'll tell you about how much it sucked when they couldn't get any in this country.
Without Norman Borlaug's work our country would most likly still have food, but it would be costlier, and less diverse. And Tthe rest of the world would be far more dramaticly screwed.
Now the other part of the discussion is meat which is a different story all together and doesn't really associate to Borlaug's work. He focused on grain and rice crops. However again, take away his work and go all Organic, we go canabolistic.
Borlaug created the means for our species to maintain its existence.
He provided us the ability to make enough bread to sustain the worlds nutritional survival. The only thing stopping the world from currently meeting all its food needs is poorly run governments not supporting its citizens, not a lack of food production.
Get it, his work has insured that there is more then a enough food for EVERYONE! Everyone else fucks it up. Not Norman.
His work legacy should be revered and appreciated for the entire existence of the human race. We should all say a bit of thanks to him, his coworkers, contributors, finial backers, and his family. His personal passion for all human life around the world should be an inspiration to all of Planer Earths 7 Billion inhabitants.
Also consider this. of the 7 billion people on this planet it was the poorest 1 Billion that he saved for inevitable death.
Think about that when you look at the above list of potential greatest people to ever live.
