There are still Flowers in the Attic

It amazes me that these things can still happen.  It seems like every few weeks we hear a new story about a child locked away for years in a room, or a basement, or in this case a closet, and tortured by a parent. My Gut feeling is that these things are not new at all but its something we are doing a slightly better job at catching.

The sad thing is most children who have this happen to them probably just get die or get killed and no one ever knows about it. If not for the child in this case escaping no one may have ever known about this. It had already been 4 ½ years.


How is it possible in this day and age that a young child can just stop going to school only to never be heard from by any school administrations offices and nothing ever gets checked out? To top it off the Mother has was released from jail and immediately moved from NJ to OK and no one bothered to check in on her or her 7 children.
